I first became aware of the Open University in the early 70s. At the time I was studying at the North London Polytechnic, now known as the University of North London, located in Holloway, no not the prison! My course choice at that time was Sound Studios and Recording, an optional third level course for HNC. Having passed the course with credit I was persuaded by my wife Geraldine to apply for the Open University; which I did. In 1975 I started on the maths foundation course M100. I went on to complete many course with the maths, science and technology faculties ending with a BA and a BSc with Honours. As of November 2009 I am back in harness at the Open University. I decided to do another course and have moved off the edge of the cliff in attempting to learn Welsh for Beginners! One notably difference today, compared to my experiences back in the 70s and 80s, is the use of the internet. Tutorials are via the internet and our continuous assessment assignments are now forwarded by email rather than snail mail. As yet I have done little studying of the new course, but have joined the forum and am already learning a few words and phrases. I shall update this page as I progress through the course L192. I have now made an effort to start the course. Oh dear! What have I let myself in for? Yes it is hard work. The first assignment is due on or before 1st December and do I have a lot to do. So to say goodbye for the moment Hwyl.
